Brownlow Mews is a building with more than a century of history, having served as stables, private residences, and later, compartmentalised offices from the 1970s. When we first surveyed the site, much of its character was hidden behind false ceilings, leaking skylights, and closed-off atrium spaces. Our design approach focused on opening up these areas and making better use of underutilised volumes — introducing mezzanine floors, levelling out floor discrepancies, and replacing internal windows with Juliet-style balconies to connect spaces more seamlessly. Original timber floors were carefully restored, new LVT flooring was added to the ground level, and sandblasting exposed the existing brickwork to create a striking loft-style interior. Following consultation with Camden Council, we were also able to secure planning permission for a new rooftop terrace, turning wasted roof space into an amenity that now defines the building.
While the completed photos capture the revitalised shell of Brownlow Mews, the CGIs reveal our design intent — how the building was envisioned as a workplace. From the reception and breakout areas to the collaborative open-plan offices and the roof terrace, the visuals highlight a space designed to foster connection, light, and flexibility while celebrating the building’s heritage.
While the completed photos showcase the revitalised fabric of Brownlow Mews, the CGIs illustrate our design intent — how the space could be experienced and inhabited day to day. From the reception areas to the collaborative work zones, breakout spaces, and the rooftop terrace, these visuals capture the atmosphere we envisioned: open, connected, and full of natural light. They show how the design balances functionality with character, creating a workplace that celebrates the building’s heritage while offering flexibility for modern working.
